Classroom Volunteers Needed in Buffalo!

Classroom Volunteers Short in Supply

Classroom volunteers are needed at six Buffalo Public Schools! Erie County RSVP seeks volunteers age 55 and over to provide one-on-one tutoring to children in the classroom.  Perhaps you’re a retired teacher or simply just passionate about the education of today’s youth, this is your chance to make a difference in the life of a child! A BPS teacher who has an RSVP volunteer in her classroom has said, “He works wonderfully with my struggling students, one on one - I wish I could have 5 or 6 more of him.” This could be you!

Volunteers in the classroom can make an astounding, positive change in the habits and behavior of a child. Students working with volunteers not only have higher test scores and improved grades but also demonstrate a better attitude, higher level of self confidence, have fewer absences, regularly complete homework assignments and ultimately are more likely to graduate.

As a volunteer in the classroom, you can see these transformations first hand! Even better, you will receive the gratitude of a young child who finally learned how to read with your help – what could possibly be more rewarding?
RSVP is working with Closing the Gap (a program of Catholic Charities) and Say Yes on this exciting project to bring committed volunteers to Southside, Discovery, West Hertel Academy, Waterfront, Charles Drew Magnet and School 81.  If you’re ready to make a difference, call Erie County RSVP today at (716)858-7548 to learn about the opportunities within the Buffalo Public Schools!
